My Life Head On
  • .: Just a Peek :.

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said that it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

    Disappointment in the Human Race

Posted By on July 5, 2012

Today I have a renewed disappointment in the human race. It was incredibly hot outside. When I got in the car for lunch today the thermostat said it was 110°F.  We had a client call in today with a 7 month old puppy that they had taken for a long bike ride. The puppy was in severe distress and died before reaching the hospital. Then later today we had a family leave one of their dogs in a closed truck while they brought their other pet in to the hospital. We rushed out to free the pet from the truck and this pet was very lucky to be just fine.  I just don’t understand why people don’t think about what they are doing in this heat.

    Productivity

Spent a lot of time working on the websites. I was able to add a few new features to PawFurred Style. I had a lot of fun getting to put things together. I was able to upload two galleries of photos. I also added social media buttons to all the websites as well.

I made a very delicious s’mores dessert today and brought it in to a lunch meeting at work. Renegade and I had a very enjoyable visit to the hospital. I was also able to get several chores done around the house as well.

I had my own hair cut and styled today as well. I do enjoy my long hair very much, so I try to keep up on keeping it healthy enough to grow out between trimming. The Stylist that I go to does an absolutely amazing job at keeping the length I love and bringing in just a little bit of change to it each time.

    Plans

I have been looking ahead at the possibility of expanding my grooming business. I have been discussing opening a small grooming area in. Pet health food store a good friend of mine is looking to open. I have been a little bit stressed because I would not be able to devote as much time to it as I would like to. I have also been concerned about growing too much in this new venue and not being able to provide the personal service I currently provide. I have also been a little worried that it would all fall apart because my girlfriend has been having trouble settling the lease. Things are looking up a little bit today though. There has been some development with the lease. I was also approached by a colleague that she would be interested in working for me. Now it is time to look ahead to the next steps.

    Back in Business

The new motor came today for my forced air drier/clipper vac combo unit! My brother and I quickly went to work taking apart the housing and disconnecting the old motor. We got it all taken apart and the new motor inside in just a few minutes. I am back in business now.

Taylor and Romulus Fun Day in the Park

We had a great time today! We had many wonderful dogs come visit the booth I was running. We trimmed toenails, painted nails, made pretty bows, and did temporary glitter and blo pen decorations on our four legged visitors. everyone was so well behaved and we had a great time. I had several friends help me out with my own booth and so many family members and close friends helping to work the event. I am so excited about the future for the foundation.

    Getting ready

Mr. Renegade has been my guinea pig for Saturday’s benefit event. I have been trying to come up with ideas on neat things to do for dark haired dogs and dogs with coarser coats. Both of which describe Renegade. He doesn’t have long hair so I can’t really throw a bow in it either.  I was able to get some creative juices flowing though and came up with a cute quick little trick. Peace!

We have been busy doing some new make overs technology wise with them family business. My brother has been working overtime to make everything work. I was just barely able to drag Joey off the computer long enough to join us at the race track today. Adam’s family was headed out to Arlington to watch some horse races.  We had a really great time spending time in the beautiful spring weather.

We spent Mother’s Day at Arlington last year. It was the first time Taylor had ever been to a horse race. I was a little startled when we all realized this. My mom and I had gone to the Kentucky Derby several times and it just shocked me that somehow she had never been to a horse race before.

Today reminded me a lot of that day.

    Ups and Downs

I had a very interesting day today. I broke my drier/ clipper vac combo unit today and had to groom two border collie shave downs. The clipper vac part seemed to be working just fine, however the drier part was not working hardly at all. I could tell that the connection of the drier hose was loose. It wasn’t until I got it home that I found that the housing of the motor itself where it fans out to the hose had cracked entirely.

It appears that it will require the entire motor to be replaced which will more than likely require ordering one. I do have calls in to a few places to try and track one down. In the mean time we used some epoxy to bond the broken joint together. It looks hopeful, we will find out tomorrow how well it works.

My brother was able to get my new grooming website started and has set to work building it for me. It is pulling together nicely and I am very excited about it. He was also able to get my business cards designed and ordered over the weekend so I should be in excellent shape in the next week or so.

Adam took me to dinner tonight when I was about ready to just shut down. He is so fantastic. He brought me a snack to work earlier as well when I wasn’t going to have time to grab anything earlier in the day.
