My Life Head On
  • .: Just a Peek :.

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said that it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

    Interesting Offer

Posted By on May 8, 2012

Yesterday while I was at work I received a message with a very interesting offer. A good friend of mine is considering opening a new store similar to the one I had been working at. The space she is currently looking at is a little to big for her and she offered me part of it to groom in. It was a very attractive offer. I am very tempted by it in many ways. I don’t want to leave the hospital though and just don’t know if I have the time to devote to it. It would also mean more pressure on my grooming. I like grooming how I am now. I do it because I enjoy it. I have fun and get to see friends and family. I don’t know if I want to change that.

On another note, my new grooming table came in yesterday. Now I am just waiting for the grooming arm to get here.

    Grooming Outside

Posted By on May 2, 2012

I was able to groom outside today for the first time this year. I love being able to get some fresh air while still being productive. I worked at the veterinary hospital this morning so I was inside until early afternoon. I had enough time to grab lunch with friends before having to be home for my grooming appointment. It was a beautiful warm day out and Renegade had been stuck inside all day as well. I got my little Maltese client washed and dried and headed out the back door. I gave Renegade a raw bison bone and settled him out in the yard. Then went to work grooming on the patio. This particular little maltese I know very well and dog sit her as well. I wouldn’t groom just any client outside. Our yard is very open and backs up to a golf course. There is a lot of activity out there so I only groom out doors with pets I know very well and know that I won’t have problems with. There handful that I do have this chance with make for a much more relaxing and fulfilling time. It also gives Renegade the chance to roll around in the grass and chew on a bone while supervised.
Now I have time for a little break before I have the monthly neighborhood dog toenail trimming night.

    Rest and Reflection

A rainy Sunday provided a great day for relaxation and reflection. I was able to sleep in and snuggle up and catch up on TV while spending time with my wonderful boyfriend and Renegade. It was really nice to be able to just take it easy. I was also able to chat with. Good friend about some ideas for expanding her business and reflect on some of my own business planning. I have a handful of grooming appointments coming up and would like to invest in a new grooming table and arm.  I am often times so busy with work at the veterinary hospital and studying my courses there that I don’t get a lot of time to focus on my own grooming business. I also need to start building up a website for the grooming business as well as order new business cards. It seems that I always have so many things on my plate and it can be very stressful trying to keep on track. I am also a bit worried because I had some very sharp pain in my right arm last night that does not seem to have gone way completely. I am not entirely sure why it started hurting, I do remember having mild numbness in it at work early yesterday though. I hope it is nothing more than a pinched nerve. Rest does seem to have helped it some. I will have to be very careful with such a busy next couple of weeks ahead of me.

    Watching the Rain Fall

Posted By on March 23, 2012

I am laying in bed watching the rain fall while snuggled up with Renegade. The past couple of weeks have been a real adventure for me and it is nice to take a few moments to just enjoy a little down time. I do have to work this afternoon, so I know this moment won’t last. I am surrounded by Taylor’s lime green walls, a loud yet strangely comforting contrast to my orchids at the foot of the bed. Renegade is half asleep with his front legs wrapped around my body pillow, a rather amusing sight.

I was two weeks ago which in turn landed me in a lot of pain. I missed a few days of work trying to get into my doctor and heal. Between doctor visits my mom and I strolled around Mariano’s, a grocery store near by I have been wanting to go to and have not been able to. I added a new tiny orchid to my collection from Mariano’s. We also took time to look at cars while we were waiting. My brother and I were finally able to find vehicles that suit our lifestyles well. The freedom of having my own car again has been very refreshing. It has been years since I had my own car. Years since I haven’t had to coordinate every hour of my day with someone else just to get to and from work let alone anywhere else. It is a very refreshing feeling.

The weather has been unseasonably warm. It has been in the 70s and 80s and flowers are starting to bloom outside. I fear that we will get another cold blast which will kill many of the poor confused plants. It would be nice however to see some of the insects die down. There are all ready fleas ticks and mosquitoes out pestering the world. With such a mild winter it is to be expected.  It is still beautiful out though.

    The Past Few Months

Posted By on March 4, 2012

It has been an interesting past several months. I have settled into my new job at the veterinary hospital and I am currently transitioning into a new position as a pet nursing assistant. I greatly enjoy the work. I also have been able to gain some grooming business as well. I still enjoy cutting toenails for the dogs in my neighborhood once a month as well. I have seen pets whose families could no longer take care of them, find new happy healthy lives in loving families. I have also started planing with my family for a benefit event this summer to support the foundation created in my sister’s name. I am really looking forward to the future.

This beautiful German Shepherd Dog was found wandering the streets near a friend’s home. We are currently holding him to see if anyone claims him.

    Fall is in Full Swing

Posted By on October 25, 2011

I have been rather busy this past week. I took the time after work to go to Six Flags Great America with Adam and his father and cousin. The four of us had a really good evening together Friday night. We went on most of the rides that we wanted to and the guys went through some haunted houses too. We were able to meet up with my sister and see one of the shows with her as well as the pre show and parade. I always enjoy meeting up with Amy there and hearing about the projects she has put together and worked on. Adam and I also saw some of our friends there that were performing or working at some of the haunted house or security.
After work on Saturday I brought Renegade over to PetSmart for their halloween party. Renegade wore his skeleton hoodie and got to play with some of my friends’ dogs he hadn’t meet yet while we waited in line for pictures. As soon as we left the store, Adam meet me for dinner at Grande Jakes and to go meet the new American Bulldog puppy, Chief, that friends of our had adopted the week before. We left Renegade at home because Chief is still settling in to his new home and had been getting over a cough. He seems like a very behaved and sweet puppy. I look forward to a puppy play date soon.
Adam and I spent the rest of the weekend very laid back. We watched movies, football, and our TV shows while I sampled my new teas.
The rest of my free time has been occupied looking into setting up a fish tank for a new Black Ghost Knife. My dad got me hooked on them as a kid, and I have had a couple of the in the past. I had them in a small 30 gallon tank, and while they did just fine alone, they really need more space than that. The 30 gallon was perfect for the last one I had, because when I got him as a baby he had a deformed spine. He had a hard time getting around. He grew to be 20 inches though. I would have loved to see how long he would have been without his deformity. I am really looking forward to my new project setting up a new tank.

    Night to Myself

Tonight I enjoyed an evening to myself. I got to enjoy new tea that arrived as an early birthday present from a very close friend of mine. I got to watch two of my favorite television shows as well. During the commercials, I busied myself carving a Doberman into  pumpkin. I chose to use an artificial pumpkin so I will have it every year. It was a very relaxing evening.

    Comforting and Refreshing

After a rather chaotic day, I had the pleasure of spending the evening with Adam.  It’s not that any part of today was bad, just sort of complicated. It was very nice to be able to have a nice quiet evening. We went out to dinner and had a great time sharing about our days. We went on a little mission to find some juice for my mom because we couldn’t find it while grocery shopping earlier. Then we snuggled up with Renegade to watch one of our shows. It was simple, yet very comforting and refreshing. It was just what I needed to end my day.

    Coyotes

I was settled in watching a little T.V. with my brother and Adam tonight when Renegade suddenly bolted upright. I had just barely heard the sound through the noise from the show we were watching. Renegade rushed to the window, his ears pricked listening. I paused the show to listen. The windows were open bringing in the fresh fall breeze and carrying the beautiful melody. The coyotes were serenading the full moon. We all took a moment to appreciate their song before returning to our regularly scheduled broadcast.

    Corn Maze

Posted By on October 10, 2011

Near by there is a corn maze that I enjoy going to every year.  There are only a few years I have missed out getting to go.  I was introduced to the Richardson Corn Maze in middle school because it was a youth group event.  We went together all through high school.  We always had a good time.

Now I try to get a group together to go every year.  We were finally able to go yesterday and it was a beautiful day for it.  We really had a lot of fun.  I brought Renegade along with Adam and I.  We got to meet up with a good friend of mine and her daughter.  We only did a little part of the maze with them and then went to let her 3 year old play on some of the other activities the adventure farm provides.  As the little one was playing, two of our other friends joined us with their dog. We had a great time watching the little one play and have fun.  Seeing the world through the eyes of a child is amazing.

When my girlfriend and her little girl had to, the rest of us headed into the maze.  We had a good time finding our way through the different parts of the maze.  We got lost a few times, but that is part of the fun of being in a corn maze.

When we finally finished the maze and got our certificates, we treated ourselves to some of the apple cider doughnuts and cider.  It was a beautiful fall day to be outside.  A great way to spend time with the dogs getting exercise and allowing them to be social and explore new places.
