My Life Head On

The System

I spent a good chunk of today battling the system. It was highly frustrating. Filling out all this paperwork for jobs reminded me that yet again I had not gotten any confirmation of my name change after the divorce.
This happened when I originally got married as well. I spent hours down at social security on several occasions trying to get everything settled with them. Each time they would get the information wrong and I would end up wasting yet another day to fill out paperwork and go over everything again. Finally they got all the information correct and gave me the paperwork saying it was changed, and that they would mail my card to me.  I never got the card.
I made sure that the divorce paperwork had in it that I could resume use of my maiden name. I had gone through and changed most everything back to my maiden name and had filled out the paperwork for my social security number to be changed back as well. Having not received any confirmation in regards to the change, I had to spend an hour on the phone getting through the automated recording just to get to a person to look up my information and tell me that nothing had been processed from December and I would have to physically go down to social security yet again. So, today I spent most of the day with my good friend Danny jumping through hoops. The original stamped paperwork from the court, that the clerk said was what I needed, was not enough for social security. So we had to drive over to the court house and get a copy of the same exact original papers in my hand so that they could put a different stamp on them.  Yes that’s right. The original documents are less legal than the copies are. We then drove back to social security where I was reassured that the information was changed and they would mail me my card.
